The Lighthouse Keeper's Hymn

"Let the Lower Lights Be Burning"

Brightly beams our Father's mercy
From his lighthouse ever-more
But to us He gives the keeping
Of the lights along the shore?
Let the lower lights be burning!
Send a gleam across the waves.
Some poor fainting, struggling sea-man
You may rescue, you may save.
Dark the night of sin has settled,
Loud the angry billows roar;
Eager eyes are watching, longing-
For the lights along the shore.

  1. Inspired by the book you read? This is an old hymn ,several of the churchs in the the area have people being saved by the light house in thier windoes . We are a light house area and this is important ."If it wasn't for the light house tell me wher woudl this ship be? " Another song about Jesus being the light house. We sing this at Pickford Pickers.
    Marilyn taught me the other one wen I was taking dulimer lesssons.
